Hints for The House on Highfield Lane

Each section has a number of clues, getting more explicit down the list. Hopefully you can identify the section you are interested in from the title - without the title being too spoilery. Click on the triangle to the left of "Clue" to reveal the clue.

Into the house

Clue one Pick up the letter, and the house will let Mandy inside.

Find Boots

Clue one Head south from the hall to the gallery, then east; Mandy will be in a huge room. She needs to shift the cabinet, to access the hole behind it.

It's Alive

Clue one Down from the Great Hall is the Mad Science Lab. What does every mad scientist need to animate a body? Reading the journal might give an extra clue.
Clue two Mandy is going to need lightning to animate a body. Grab the coil of wire, and see what she can find. Where might she find lightning?
Clue three Mandy is going to need lightning to animate a body. Grab the coil of wire, and take it up to the observatory. Now, how is she going to get on to the roof of the Great Hall?
Clue four Mandy is going to need lightning to animate a body. Grab the coil of wire, and take it up to the observatory. Use the lever and wheels to open the roof, lower the telescope and point it west towards the Great Gallery - commands like PULL LEVER, TURN RIGHT WHEEL LEFT, etc.

Use the lever and wheels to open the roof, lower the telescope and point it west towards the Great Gallery - PULL LEVER to open the ceiling, TURN RIGHT WHEEL LEFT repeatedly until the telescope stops going lower, TURN LEFT WHEEL LEFT until the telescope points west (if the observatory roof is open, the Great Hall roof will come into view; you can also EXAMINE THE TELESCOPE to see which way it is pointing).

Climb up and attach the wire to the weather vane.
Clue seven Mandy is going to need lightning to animate a body. Grab the coil of wire, and take it up to the observatory. Use the lever and wheels to open the roof, lower the telescope and point it west - PULL LEVER to open the ceiling, TURN RIGHT WHEEL LEFT repeatedly until the telescope stops going lower, TURN LEFT WHEEL LEFT until the telescope points west (if the observatory roof is open, the Great Hall roof will come into view; you can also EXAMINE THE TELESCOPE to see which way it is pointing). Go UP to climb the telescope, then WEST twice to get on the roof, then TIE WIRE TO WEATHER VANE.

Boots Again

Clue one Patch will not wear the boots while they have a hole in them. Who could fix them?

Even More Boots

Clue one Patch will not wear the boots because there is something inside one of them. But how is she going to get it out?

The Theatre Mannequin

Heading south will get her to the beach, where she can get sand. Go southwest to find a oar. Turning the horse on the chess board got her here, so use the oar to turn the horse on the battlefield to get back.

The Seed

Clue one The seed pods are out of reach, but perhaps she could knock them down?

Clue one If you want to climb the tree in the east end of the greenhouse, look at the section called "The Seed". Otherwise...
If the tree is big enough to be useful, she cannot climb straight up it. There are various ways around that...

Mannequins Everywhere!
